Dinner on the Dock
Every Thursday evening the Prairie Street Brewhouse hosts the event, Dinner on Dock. The Prairie Street Brewhouse is located in the heart of downtown Rockford and sits right on the Rock River. The Brewhouse is a unique building with a lot of history.
What was once a house turned brewery, turned warehouse, became vacant for over 50 years before the recent owner purchased it and turned it into a multi-use facility. Now locals can go there every Thursday evening to enjoy good food and listen to local band play, all while enjoying some of the Rockford Brewing Company's locally made beers.
Dinner on the Dock is a unique event since it is the only event in Rockford that takes place right on the Rock River. Dinner on the Dock has become very popular within the last few years.

Rockford City Market
The Rockford City Market, which takes place
every Friday night, had a great turnout this past weekend. Thousands of local
residents, as well as people from out of town gathered on the waterfront to
enjoy gifts, food, and drinks from local vendors.
The Last Degree performed their versions of today’s popular music hits, and had many people dancing and singing along with them. Many locals enjoyed Vintage Restaurant’s famous bacon-cheddar fries as they walked through the market.
When market vendors packed up the party didn’t end their, crowds headed down to the strip to local bars and restaurants where residents partied even more.

Rockford City Market
In an effort to help the downtown, the RockfordCity Market was put into place to help bring more people and more businesses to
the downtown area.
The market takes place every Friday night and is a place where residents gather to walk through local vendors tents that are selling knickknacks, gifts, apparel, food, and drinks.
The market has been a place where more people can utilize the downtown area, which has been a recovering area in recent years. Since the market first started in 2010 there has been more traffic downtown resulting in new businesses starting up downtown.
This weekend The Last Degree will be performing under the pavilion as the main event for the Market.

Packing for Europe
Review-
Recent Calvin College graduate, Jon
Hoskins eagerly packed for his two-week backpacking trip across Europe Sunday
evening.
Hoskins had never been out of the
country before and was struggling with what to pack for this two week long
excursion.
Hoskins has gone on many trips
before this but none where he had to pack in just a carry-on backpack.
After ripping open the package in
which the backpack came, Hoskins began laying out his clothes in an attempt to
pack it all.
After compiling outfit options
Hoskins then tried to place all the clothes into his backpack where he then
realized it wouldn’t fit all of his things.
Without feeling discouraged,
Hoskins took all his clothes out and tried to roll them up as a way to save
space in his backpack.
Just when Hoskins thought he
couldn’t fit all his things in his backpack, he placed his final shirt in the
bag and zipped it up.
“I didn’t think it would all fit,
but after rolling all the clothes, it fit perfectly,” said Hoskins.

A recently
graduated student plans to pack for a two week backpacking trip to Europe. JonHoskins has always had a love for traveling and is eager to travel acrossEurope with his friends.
Ever since
he graduated from high school, he and his friends had dreamed of going to Europe
after they graduated college.
Hoskins is
planning on packing all of his things into a backpack, something he has never
done before, but he accepts the challenge with open arms.
“I’m not
sure if I can fit all of my things into this backpack, but I guess we’ll find
out,” said Hoskins.
Two weeks
worth of clothes is a lot of stuff to pack into one backpack. Will he be able
to pack it all?
